London Terminal Stations to parkrun

The question 'I' m arriving into X station in London at 8.15am on Saturday. What parkruns can I get to in time?' comes up fairly often on parkrun tourism groups, so I thought I'd try to put a simple list together to help. For the list I have used the 14 central London terminal stations plus the 4 central London through-stations that are considered terminals for ticketing purposes. These are collectively known as the London Station Group.

The timings are based on the overall estimated journey time from the point the journey begins to arrival at the parkrun start area. It does not account for any additional waiting time before the journey begins or for delays encountered. The timings and routes are largely sourced from the Google maps route planner feature, but I have made some adjustments where I believe it is necessary. I would urge you to check with all the relevant travel operators before travelling. Also remember to check for engineering works or other diversions that may have a negative affect on the journey.

Below you will find each station along with a list of parkrun venues in order of the 'quickest to reach by public transport'. To keep the lists tidy I have attempted to limit the options to venues that can be reached in a maximum of 40 minutes, but it is a loose rule and there are a few exceptions. Also, venues with a longer walk at the end open up the possibility of reducing the travel time by jogging.

Detailed write-ups on all of the London parkrun venues can be found here: The London parkrun Venues

Waterloo East

Waterloo East Station is served by National Rail (NR) only.
  • Southeastern (NR)
The station is connected to Waterloo Station via a footbridge. Waterloo East Station also has a direct connection to Southwark Tube Station for the Jubilee Line - this is accessed from the south end of platform D (Waterloo East uses letters to identify its platforms).
  • South Western Railway (NR)
  • Bakerloo Line (Tube)
  • Jubilee Line (Tube) (via Southwark Tube Station or Waterloo Station)
  • Northern Line (Tube)
  • Waterloo and City Line (Tube)
Please note: The Google maps journey planner does not seem to know that Southwark Station can be accessed directly from Waterloo East Station. Google maps also does not seem to know about the footbridge connecting Waterloo and Waterloo East. If using Google maps for the interchange walk I would advise following the station signage rather than Google's instructions.
