Riddlesdown parkrun fifty-six

This parkrun was supposed to be the first run of year two. However it turned out that it was the last of year one.
I decided that I would maintain my 'taking it easy' approach and I went around the course in 24.15.

I suppose the most important points for me regarding today's run were that it marked me completing the full first year of the event and it marked the last run of my parkrun streak.

Both of the above started on 2 July 2011. My streak was made up of 53 consecutive Saturday parkruns plus a bunch of extra events throughout the year. In the end the number of parkruns in the streak stood at 59.

56 at Riddlesdown
1 at roundshaw downs
1 at frimley lodge
1 at nonsuch

My total number of parkruns stands at 61. The other two were run at Banstead woods.

The reason for the break in the streak is that we had travelled to Germany for my father-in-law's 50th birthday (running at the parkrun on our way to the eurostar terminal at st. Pancras), and as it stands Germany is still a parkrun-free zone.

When I return to the UK I am going to do a bit of volunteering and focus on my anti-streak streak. The rule that I'm working to is that I must not do exactly the same thing on consecutive saturdays. I can run on two consecutive weeks but something must change, for example the venue - shocking stuff, I know! I could volunteer consecutively but in different roles.

My volunteering record at the end of the first year is this:

Admin x 2
Event Report Writer x 5
Website uploads (facebook admin) x 10

Technically the anti-streak has already started. I ran at this event, will miss the next and have already volunteered for the one after - which gives mrs7t the opportunity to run, as I'll keep be employing our daughter as my assistant.

I'll update this with some photos when I get back to my computer (i used the Android Blogger app to write this one). The next parkrun post should be a very special one.
