Christmas on the High Street |
Fast forward two hours and I was still lying there awake. I even grabbed the phone and started tweeting. I considered leaving the house at 6am to start my run, but the bed was really really cosy. At about 6:30am I fell back to sleep.
By the time I woke up naturally it was 9am. The two ladies were still enjoying their respective snooze-fests, so I crept out of the bed I looked out of the window to see what the weather was like.
Rain.
Once I was outside in the rain I discovered that it wasn't really as bad as it looked.
Sunday is the day I do my long run. Recently they have been non-existant or just normal short runs. The hamstring was feeling fine so I decided to push the distance up a tiny bit.
I headed along my 8km route but in reverse. I added an extra section in the middle to push the distance up.
It rained gently, it rained a bit harder, then it rained gently again.
Nothing particularly exciting happened during the run. The best thing was that my hamstring didn't hurt.
At the end of the run I felt like I could go further but opted for the sensible option and banked the distance I had already run. Maybe next weekend I'll hit double figures again!
9.1km in 46:47. (5.08 per km pace).
